WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

My practice and academic background is in working with children, youth, and young adults. I have a master’s degree in child and youth care and have worked in high schools, universities, and outdoor settings. I am always amazed at the insight young people have into their own lives, and their resilience in the face of life’s challenges. Adolescence and young adulthood is a time of identity formation and increased responsibility.

I take a strengths-based approach that focuses on how we can use what is already going well in a young person’s life to help navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, or addictive behaviours (such as substances or technology). Many young people prefer an informal atmosphere, like downtown, the forest, or the beach, and I’m available to find a location that works best for my clients.

I have worked for many years as a postsecondary counsellor providing mentorship and guidance for young people as they begin to live independently, find success at school, start careers, and begin families of their own.

I offer an initial consultation for us to see if working together might be beneficial. Parents, youth, or young adults are invited to contact me directly for more information.
